September 1-2, 2006 -- Classes 1940s through 1956

  • 9/12/2006 - The Gosnell High School classes of the 1940's thru 1956 recently had their school reunion. This event takes place every 5 years, however we have discussed having another in three years. No decision on this has been made yet. We had a wonderful time at both events. We met at the school cafeteria on Friday, September 1st from 4:00 to 6:00 for a meet and greet and get reacquainted. We had a meal of Bar-B-Que that only Blytheville is famous for, along with all the trimmings. Later in the evening those who wished to continue the evening went to the Clean Fun Club at Walker Park in Blytheville for some good Country Music and dancing for those who wished to dance. On Saturday evening, September 2nd we enjoyed a buffet dinner at the Grecian Steak House in Blytheville followed by more visiting among ourselves before we adjourned for the evening. We had 83 people in attendance at the dinner. There were even more on Friday afternoon. We did not get a head count there as so many dropped in for a while and left. Mildred Rhodes Reid Ellis chaired the reunion this time and we congratulate her for a super job along with Robert Earl Davis and Lanny Flower who helped her.

We are looking forward to meeting again in 3 or 5 years.
  • 6/14/2006 - Plans have been finalized for the 2006 Gosnell School Reunion for the classes of the "40's thru 1956. You do not have to have graduated with these classes. If you went to school at Gosnell with these classes we welcome you. There may be siblings and friends of members of these classes and we welcome them if they wish to attend.

We will begin with a drop-in at the High School Cafeteria on Friday, September 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. This has proven to be a poplar event for visiting and getting acquainted and reacquainted. For those who wish to continue the evening, The Clean Fun Club located in Walker Park welcomes you at 7:00 p.m. This is a smoke free, drink free place to enjoy listening to Country Music and dancing if you care to dance as well as visiting and enjoying the fellowship with each other.

On Saturday, September 2nd we will have a buffet dinner at The Grecian Steak House in Blytheville. This will conclude all planned activities, however in the past groups have met for breakfast on Sunday Morning before departing for their homes. We're looking forward to seeing each of you on September 1, 2006.
  • 3/28/2006 - We have tentative plans for the 40's thru the year 1956 Reunion. We will have a drop in at the school on Friday, September 1st with a dinner at the Grecian Steak House in Blytheville on the 2nd. We will have another meeting in June to finalize this Reunion.
